Pilgrim Center of Saint Anthony of PaduaPilgrim Center of Saint Anthony of PaduaPilgrim Center of Saint Anthony of Padua

French missionaries erected the statue of Saint Anthony of Padua and a chapel in 1898.

They provided food and health care for local people and planted trees on the hill. Now 200 local non-Catholics come daily to pray in front of the Saint Anthony statue. Some 50,000 local pilgrims visit the chapel to celebrate the feast of Saint Anthony of Padua on June 13.

Local Catholics are trying to complete the center's construction in time to celebrate the 115th anniversary of the Pilgrim Center in 2013. The retired Bishop Paul Mary Cao Đình Thuyên of Vinh Diocese named the chapel the diocese's Pilgrim Center in 2000.
